EOC

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) serves as the central point of coordination during emergency situations and disasters in Limestone County.  When an emergency occurs, a determination is made as to the extent of response necessary.  During an emergency which poses a threat to life or property, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated and the appropriate personnel from government and volunteer organizations are notified.  Key personnel report to the EOC in order to coordinate the efforts of first responders working on the scene of the disaster.

Following the collection and evaluation of information received from the disaster site, public officials and city and county department heads make important decisions to provide for the protection and safety of the citizens of Limestone County.  Equipment, manpower and other resources must be committed to handle the needs of the public during the emergency.  Coordination of these resources is made at the EOC.  Communications among emergency response agencies is essential during an emergency.  Having the heads of these agencies in the EOC allows for this coordination.
